| This is either CDBurnerXP or BurnAware I also heard it could be Cheetah Burner as well....
Disabling will cause some freeware burners to not work.

 noname
| cdburner enables it allows xp to burn files to cd any user ...
|
 Art
| User Opinions say it could be 3 different programs that have this file. I don't have 2 of them on my computer so it leaves only CDBurnerXP.

 giannidettonuzzo
| I've CDBurnerXP on my computer and NMSAccessU.exe its present
|
 Germanski
| With me it's also CDBurnerXP (I don't remember it from older versions though), might be part DOTNET from Microsoft - should be safe :) More information
|

| Safe. Investigated closely.

| The Cheetah DVD Burner security page explained the functionality of this process: "To give CD/DVD rights to a non-administrative user" More information

 davescomputers.co.uk
| It's part of CDBurnerXP and is necessary if you have non-admin users who wish to use it. More information
|
 Jesus
| Gives user rights for burner to non-admin users. Packaged with some free burner programs. May be a hassle in a secure domain environment.

| I found this on my PC and came here. And yes, I am using BurnAware
|

| BurnAware Free
|

| Installs with SyncBack Pro backup utility, to allow backups on DVD for non-Admin users.
Maybe it comes with other software too (DVD authoring soft etc.)
Seems to be connected to the NMSDVDXU.dll in the program folder.

 .
| It's deadly.
Destroyed my computers stuff
|
 Bado
| I am also using CDBurnerXP, so its seems safe
|
 DeadLizard
| I am also using CD Burner XP... the only thing that bothers me about this is that it loads on bootup instead of when I launch the program. Other than that, seems fine.
|
 BlackCat
| I has the ControlService funciton in it. It can send control codes to any service it has permissions for.
|
 BlackCat
| It has code for debugging in it. Create process, lowio write, ect. Some process might be required for being able to access raw registers in your computer (which MS probably prevents, for (r/l)oyalty reasons), which would have to start running before Windows takes over, but I don't see why it would need to be able to be debugged? It could give the -right- person the ability to attach to all processes, and do whatever they want. Are any programs that use it open source?

 Bazzik
| Got it installed together with SyncBackPro v5 (made by 2BrightSparks). Looks like some addon to backup to CD/DVD (as original / lighter version from the same company called SyncBackSE has no such features and no such file got installed).
|
 jonny
| ya i recently installed syncback pro and believe it's associated with the program

 Concerned Audiophile User
| CDburnerXP background service component for allowing non-admins to burn discs. In recent versions of CDburnerXP, this may be prevented from installing by de-selecting the appropriate option in the setup/installer.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think NMSAccess and/or NMSAccessU contribute to disk thrashing (accessing the operating system storage media too frequently).
Users wanting a system optimized / tweaked for audio or visual performance will want to disable and/or prevent installation of NMSAccess due to the thrashing.
