| Isn't Spyware.
But it should be uninstalled automatically when you removes Corel software, and doesn't do.
It's more like a rootkit or something.
Is easy to remove, just 2 files and some registry lines.
But if you removes it whit corel software running you lose your trial period, or maybe, your license.

| Digital signature for the file indicates that this is a product of 'Protexis Inc.'
After reading about their business, I beleive this would fall under their "Persistent software protection" http://protexis.com/technology.htm

 Very good human
| It is new COREL DRAW SPY SATELLITE PROGRAM. X4 does not run without this spy running on the background. I think world needs to set some laws against such insolent action by almost a monopolists such as Adobe (which includes spy programs Adobelm_Cleanup.0001 - 2 (!!!) of these are running on the background whe u start Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop, plus Adobelmsvc.exe) or Corel Corp. I think putting a spyware in Corel or Adobe programs is just too much. It wouldn't be so, if these dirty little pieces of spyware wouldn't take a load of cpu, but they do! Adobe' crap also creates smknd of temp files, and they are getting bigger as time passes.
I think, ppl are really deserve to have a law that would prohibit spying on them by the - not govrnmt - a crap private software companies. Amen!

it is a service installed by a few different progs but i encountered with corel x2. it says it is required but depending on the program it isnt. block it to check whether you need it running or not.

| Corel Paintshop Pro Photo X2 will not run if you have Norton 360, V3.0 installed. The program freezes your computer and has to be killed using ctl/alt/delete.

| A lot of talk saying nothing. Looks like Corel and other software needs/installs it, but does not uninstall it because another program might be using it. Too much CPU overhead, so if you don't need it ... kill it.

| received the following information from Protexis, who owns this program, which is used to verify that there is a legitimate software license. I am running the latest Corel Paint Shop Pro.
======================================================
Thanks for contacting Protexis Support,
You're correct; Protexis provides licensing services for Corel. A license check is performed each time you start your Corel product to verify a valid license is present on your machine.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best regards,

| If you don't want the Protexis service running, then just open the Services control panel and set it to 'Disabled' - done. Then if you ever do need it, in order to run a program, just open Services and 'Start' it manually. Really not a big deal.

| If it does not provide a function useful to you the user it should not be there.
My PSP X2 12.5 runs without it.
