Uninstall the program from Add/Remove Programs. Download the latest version of Dell Support Center.
Sol.2:
If Sol.1 does not work. Then, clear startup. restart the sys. uninstall it. and reinstall it.

| I'm having the same problem with sprtcmd.exe and also have XP Service Pack 3. If sptcmd.exe loads automatically at startup it locks up my Earthlink internet taskbar and won't let me disconnect from the internet. When you finally control/alt/delete past it and shut down your computer, you then get the annoying popup window that you have to click to End Program. Lousy Gremlin

| every time i log off "end program sprtcmd.exe" shows up. I click to cancel or end now and it takes for every to log off. Sometimes I just have to unplug the computer. Does this have something to do with my server. I see there is another person in Monroe with the exact same problem HELP!!!

| I have a different experience than does Natesh. When I try to uninstall the program from Add/Remove Programs, a message comes up that says "This update cannot be removed. It is in the Programs\Dell folder, so I believe it is a legitimate file but Dell seems to have a problem with it. I cannot remove it.

| We get the same error on shutdown: "end program sprtcmd.exe" Never use the stupid Dell Support center anyway, and it's 85MB on the harddrive! WTF!?

| I've been getting "end program sprtcmd.exe" just recently whenever I log off. Glad to here it's not adware/spyware but it's as annnoying as hell. I'm going to uninstall Dell Support Software/Center and see if that helps the problem.

| Jerrty, you need to ctrl+alt+del, go to Tas Manager and stop the sprtcmd.exe file first. Then uninstall the dell support sw. That should wor.

| I'm going crazy with this too. Did it come in some automatic update? My Outlook file has locked up too, and I can't get in. I even paid someone to come in and it still isn't fixed. Maybe the two problems are not related?

| When simpler methods such as MSCONFIG -Startup Tab and/or Remove Programs fail then (1) Use file search to locate sprtcmd.exe and and delete or rename this file (2) reboot and now find file sprtcmd.log and delete or rename it (3) reboot and next go to Control Panel-Add/Remove programs and remove Dell Support Center. I haven't felt the need to go to the Dell site to download and install whatever version Dell is making available - perhaps in time and only if I need it. Seems problem came with recent Microsoft Updates and was exacerbated with installation of SP3.

Just did this and now support center is working and I can uninstall it if I want. As it was erroring while shutting down and not allowing me to uninstall.

| I had the sprtcmd error at logoff which I was fixing by disabling it in msconfig. Every time I would disable it, it seems youtube videos would refuse to play. Then I would reinstall flash, restart, and youtube would work again but the sprtcmd error would be back. Now I did the .net fix as recommended by Dell's support site and videos wont work again. Are these issues related? How can I fix my flash/youtube videos?

| When I log in I get a Sprtcmd.exe corrupt file, then it says something like c:\$mft chkdsk registry.. Didn't have time to write everything down. I am unable to log in to the internet since I started getting this error. I have to unplug the modem for a few minutes and then the interenet will work. Any ideas on how to fix this?

| I'm experiencing the same issue with sprtcmd.exe. Yesterday I followed Nino's advice (Dell technician's) to the letter only to experience exactly the same problem. I repeated the proposed solution (which I'd expected to work) and obtained the same frustrating result. I'm about to try Jan Michael's remedy and, if that fails to correct the issue, I'll be disabling the support center or removing it - which will further frustrate me as this issue has piqued my curiosity regarding Dell Support Center and I now believe it's (DSC) likely to be quite useful.

| most peole who know their way around pcs will never use this. it is glitchy in xp but vista works with it perfectley. if you clueless i would suggest using this tool.

| I kept getting the following popup with Vista Home Premium OS:
Sprtcmd.exe - Entry Point Not Found: the procedure entry point DOOPENPIPESTREAM could not be located in the dynamic link library ScrRun.dll
This was happening after a dell support update in Nov 08. I blocked this program in start up. Problem solved. Any other solotion from DELL?
