| You don't need this to print or update or anything. And like mopar73 it slowed down my comp. Much better not to have it run for my D1400.

| Stupid program! Even if I want to use the thing I can't, it just freezes up everything.
|
 pedxing
| It's part of HP's All-In-One printer/scanner software. It is an awful piece of bloated software, but you need it to use the scanner, so leave it running if you want to do that.

| Useless, as almost everything else they plug in our machines without even asking before. I will begin sueing these companies one of these days...

| O/S WIN XP Pro SP3. Just installed a Photosmart D7460 and the install CD put this crap software in the Startup folder so it runs automatically on bootup. Seems to take forever to initialise particularly if the printer is not switched on so slows down the PC dramatically. Same when shutting down, this software takes forever to close. Do I need it, NO! Did I ask for it to be installed, NO! Have now removed it from the startup folder and PC now running fine.

| I recently purchased the HP Officejet j6480 and disabled this from running at start up. It do not effect anything except you need to run the HP Document Manager to scan. The program takes more time to start when removed from start up.

| HP has serious software issues. The Digital imaging monitor "stopped working and was closed" by windows error repeatedly occurs. This is part of the HP Solution Center software that controls your printer's features from the computer. You can still scan, fax, etc. from the control panel on the printer.

| HP Digital monitor does not work with IE7 and IE8, if you need digital monitor to load you'll need to downgrade back to IE6, HP has not release any patches for the problems with IE8, downgrading to IE6 was my only solution untill HP wakes up and release the needed patch.

| hpqtra08.exe causes multiple "stopped working and was closed" errors of various services in my Vista laptop. Also slows down PC startup significantly. Usually not needed (just keep the HP Solution Center icon on the desktop or QuickLaunch bar for when you want to do scanning). Updated versions continue to cause these symptoms. Best to use msconfig.exe --> Startup tab to disable it from running.

| To be clear, as posted by others, if you use the controls on the printer to start the scanning process, you need this. If you use (eg) Scanner and Camera Wizard to start the scans, then you don't. It is generally a piece of junk, unless you like starting scans, etc from the printer control panel. Get rid of it, and learn to use software!

| Though I suppose It's needed for scanning. Bloatware.. Pfft

| My scanner-printer as off almost all the time, so I have removed this process from the StarUp. If I need it, I will run it manually.

| This is as " pedxing" said above -- "awful piece of bloated software". Constant app hangs would shut me down sometimes several times a day (all this to moniter my ink level or other baby sitting functions). Block it -- put a post-it on printer if you need scan function -- then re-block.
