Realtek HD Audio Sound Effect Manager

Shep
RTHDCPL.EXE is a process belonging to the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel and is bundled alongside Realtek sound cards and audio hardware. This program is non-essential process to the running of the system, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems. More information

This is the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel application. It should insert it's icon (looks same in tray as in GU startup manager) in the system tray. Under company should say: "Realtek Semiconductor", and uder product: "Realtek HD Audio Sound Effect Manager". If you have an HD audiocard (most of the new computers and laptops) it's completely safe. However, if you suspect it, you can disable it anyway. It doesn't do any crutial funcion.

If you have a Realtek, leave it. If you need to do something with sound, its handy to have it nearby.

I've had it on at least 3 computers, but the version on my Windows 7 machine has problems. I have it set to play two separate audio streams when headphones are plugged into the front panel but it won't do it. Version 5.10 0.5964 works great, but 6.0.1.5859 seems buggy. You have to select the default output and even though it's supposed to work when set for dual audio, it doesn't. If anyone knows why please let me know. More information
