What a pain, gets everywhere and wont go away, you can't shut it down until you have created an account even if you are a second user on a machine, it is pervasive and boderline malware.

Yahoo Messenger, if you haven't installed or dont use it uninstall. Harmless.

If you don't want this program, don't install it! Personally I use Yahoo Messenger so why would I not want it to start at startup? Don't understand the negitive opinions of this program!

Santa
It is an ok program if you to use it often like me. but if unneed then all i have to say is "WHY HAVE THE DUMB PROGRAM".

Yahoo! Messenger (IM)... it's fine. A bit of a resource hog, but I use it all the time so happy to have it. If you don't want it, don't install it.

freezes up everything

Yahoo simply does not need to be part of your start up programs in order to operate properly; You should only have to click on the icon when needed. The fewer Junk programs you have at start up, the faster the boot time

Kz
Start when you need it or else it will slow the start up and use some RAM.

goodbyebugz
not sure why people saying its hard to get rid of control panel-add/remove programs uninstall resource hog but good messanger no need to have it at start up just run it when ya need it

headhunter1158@yahoo.com
I only use it to use my webcam in chat, if there was a better messenger that will get into yahoo chat and include my cam I would change to it.

Yahoo simply does not need to be part of your start up programs in order to operate properly; You should only have to click on the icon when needed. The fewer Junk programs you have at start up, the faster the boot time ... My thoughts exactly. it slows start up, crashes my systyem while I'm away and causes a few other problems when it crashes like that. I'd hate to have to reinstall every time when I want to use. Guess that's the only solution.

I know that you have a choice to have it run at bootime but what's the -quiet? What's it on standby, running other programs, what's it doing with the -quiet?
